Multiple talents. They are all directed toward music.
The singer, composer and body percussionist Lu Horta was a part of the creation of the body percussion group Barbatuques. She is also a performer in the group and she is responsible for the vocals. She travels with the group all over Brazil and all around the world performing and teaching vocal and body percussion workshops. She has also released two cds with the group, O Corpo do Som (2002) and O Seguinte e esse (2005), which received the “Premio Tim de Musica” prize in 2006 and released the live DVD Corpo do Som (2007).
Parallel to her work with Barbatuques, she knows how to shine on her own on stage. In 2003 she released her first solo CD called Lu Horta. The repertoire includes her own compositions and new pieces by Chico Cesar and Arnaldo Antunes.
She has now just released her newest work. Paraiso Eu is a CD that reflects the maturity of her work as a composer, an interpreter, and her life experiences. In her new CD, Lu Horta revisits pieces by Arnaldo Antunes, Vitor Ramil, Leandro Bomfim, and Luciano Pessoa in addition to her new partnerships.
Lu Horta invites us on an adventure with her gentle voice, nice poetry and a particular pop melody with eletronic elements. No one can resist.
“It’s refreshing to listen to Lu Horta’s work. With a clear and sensitive voice, she presents her own songs that brim with emotion. The sound is original and well accomplished. She has something to say, and the security to say it in her own way. She is at once calm and determined. May she continue always to sing.” Arnaldo Antunes
“Lu Horta is a restless composer and a mature singer. Her work is the antidote to laziness and mental weakness of the creative mind. She is part of a generation that wants to be heard regardless of any fashionable tendencies. It is a relief to run into people like this: creative, willing and aware. Let the complainers be quiet, we want to listen to Lu Horta.” Chico César
